The fact is we are plainly insensitive as a country or we are simply wicked to our fellow humans...why would a government elected by people simply ignore them till things degenerate. Our healtcare sector is in a mess no doubt but the levels of resistance to efforts to sanitize it by people in the FMOH is mind boggling...one begins to wonder how they ended up being at the helm in the first place. The National Association of Resident Doctors #NARD have cried themselves hoarse, they have appealed, they have pleaded, they have cajoled, they have protested, and have even wore black ward coats to no avail..all has fallen on deaf ears..now they have embarked on a 7day warning strike. as at writing this report over 40 federal and state tertiary health institutions are in avoidable coma. in the coming days mortality and morbidity will increase but our government officials and family members will simply move abroad to treat migraines. they will simply follow the foot steps of their master .if only th

A requiem for Nigeria healthcare.

Dear friends...may i welcome you to this new year..it is my prayer that we shall do more celebrating than complaining. May this year be the year that we start getting things right in this country...may it be a year the FMOH takes the health of nigerians first...not a year of many conferences with little outcome but a year that doctors actually do their work and not go on strikes. a year the fmoh keeps to agreements reached.a year the cmds do right by their staff and dont embezzle hosp funds...may this be a year that the people of nigeria listen to the cry of the doctors and not wash it down as their usual call for pay rise...in as much as a worker deserves his wages, the health system is collapsed and the requiem is about to be conducted.....let me leave today with this piece from Dr Daniel Gbujie. in the coming days we will talk more on the process that led to this requiem. .Going by the current value rate of a Dollar to Naira. Rate it is available today 5th/1/2017 is btw N485 a

ARD FMCL: BEFORE A NEW DAWN

Pregnancy is a product of acts of intimacy between a man and a woman nurtured to term to be delivered of a newborn. Liken this to the social contract between the leaders and the electorate and you wouldn’t be far from the truth. The leaders court the electorate like a pretty virgin seeking her hand in marriage with promises of hope, better living, fulfillment of dreams and fantasies. Election day represents the wedding day, when the electorate weds the leader of her choice. The leader nurtures this relationship by fulfilling the promises made during the election while in office. If within the marriage (social contract with the electorate),the leader fails in his duties, the bride reserves the right to divorce him, refuse him further rights to be her leader. For everything under the sun, a time and a season is appointed. Today we are at another verge of history with our blogosphere daily updated with articles and pictures of our members who wish to lead us within the coming year. It

Important information from the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria

The Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) hereby draws the attention of the Medical and Dental practitioners, their employers, stakeholders and the general public to its publication on the above subject in the Guardian and Daily Trust Newspapers of 10th November 2014, and reminds all, of the following information as contained in the said publication: The Council notes with concern the trend among practitioners whereby persons in full time employment of the public service engage in full-fledged private practice. This practice puts members of the public who have to access care in either public or private health institutions in which such practitioners are involved at grave risk and is inimical to the image and reputation of the professions. Registered medical and dental practitioners and members of the public are hereby called to note that the MDCN has made Rules on the conduct of medical and dental practitioners in full employment in the public s

FMC OWERRI CRISIS: NLC AND HER SISTER UNIONS CANNOT BE JUDGE IN THEIR OWN CASE!

It is no longer news that Nigeria Labour Congress( NLC) and the Trade Union Congress(TUC), have given the federal government a  21-day ultimatum to reverse the reinstatement of the embattled medical director ( MD) of the Federal Medical Centre( FMC ) Owerri,Dr (Mrs) Angela Uwakwem . I want to notify Nigerians that it is only the members of Joint Health Sector Unions (JOHESU) in FMC Owerri that are opposing the reinstatement of the MD and that the national president,Mr Ayubba Wabba, of one of the two  factions of the NLC that gave that ultimatum is a member of JOHESU. It was the same JOHESU members that raise a false alarm against the MD when she blocked the loopholes through which they embezzle hospitals funds . I want Nigerians to ask the members of JOHESU why they do not want the reinstatement of the embattled MD. A cursory look at FMC Owerri will show that the presence of the embattled MD is a threat to some unscrupulous workers who live above their incomes . She i
